Hi guys. I've got a customer who potentially wants laminate fitted on staircase. I've told them maybe not best idea due to safety etc,but if they do go for it, can anyone give me tips as I've never done it? How to cover expansion gaps, dealing with bottom curved step etc. Thanks in advance Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Try and talk them into having just the riser in laminate and bullnose each individual tread in carpet
Ah OK, that makes sense. And do.i have to worry about expansion gap between wall.and laminate? Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
That's great, thanks mate! Hoping to talk them out of it to be honest lol Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Tell them it will be slippery and a potential fall risk then mention about the half and half method hopefully they would go for it
Or make sure they go for quickstep as they do a system for laminate on stairs. No expansion needed. Cut neat then thin bead of silicone On tapatalk HD
Quickstep is the the best lookin. They do a incizo and a base plate . First time it's a pain to do cos it's tricky but you will get used to it. Make sure you use the thin strip you get with the base plate when sticking incizo. Cut neat and use thin silicone down side. With curved step at bottom you have to build the step into a square . And charge loads to fit as its time consuming
Ah OK. Assume the bottom curved step is as tricky as it sounds?lol I sent the quote off without including the stairs as they hadn't decided yet. Add a day rate on for the stairs or more? Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Ok that's sound advice, thanks mate. All straight, and then the bottom step is a radius step. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hi guys. Job didn't go through in the end, annoyingly! All good suggestions though if it comes up again. Cheers! Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Hi. On the bottom is the biggest skills prove. You need good machine to cut on exactly the same small sizes of laminate flooring to go around and use the same colour filler. www.services.profflooring.co.uk

I've done a few stairs in Laminate. Quickstep is my preference or solid wood with machined edge are best options. Ive never had any problems yet with cutting a tight fit on boards and I bond each board direct to riser and treads as per quickstep instructions. If I could give any tips it would be to select a wide plank if possible so as to avoid the need to join thin planks which will reduce time taken to cut planks and reduce waste.
