When one carpet style comes in more than one weight, do they always all have the same density?

I understand that, when one carpet style is available in more than one weight (e.g. 40 ounce, 50 ounce and 60 ounce variants), they sometimes all have the same density and differ only in pile length - but is it always the case?

It varies. Usually a twist pile carpet with a short pile, will tend to have more density , whereas a Saxony type may gain its weight in length and or the density of the pile.

    Thanks frazer.

Here is a question that I think is related (hence my posting it in the same thread):

In any given carpet, is the number of tufts per inch along the length of the carpet always the same as the number of tufts per inch across the width of the carpet?
