    Hi All,

I have old laminate that needs replacing. I live in a typical mid-terrace Victorian where the front door opens into the front room and there is no hallway. As is also typical, there are damp issues - although I've had a damp proof course put in. Plus I have a pet cat. So, what would be a good option that is hardwearing to get installed?

In addition, I have the fun of a weird doorway issue - the concrete/stone that goes under the threshold into the front room doesn't have a cover/protection so water is absorbed and comes through as damp patches. This currently sits right against the laminate flooring which, of course, has caused the laminate to become damaged. Does anyone have ideas of what can be done with this to protect the next lot of flooring that is installed?

Is the subfloor concrete? If so it all needs damp proofing including that concrete step

Maybe have a matwell done in front of the door.
