I keep getting asked to recommend installers across the U.K who have attended a FloorSkills course. (3 phone calls tonight already) Well i cant do that and wont do that, just because someone preformed on a course with the instructors help, well can i trust them on their own?
    whats your thoughts on this?
What i do do is recommend installers who have passed the FloorSkills / CITB accreditation, but there is only a few who have taken a accreditation test , let alone passed it. I will presume due to costs that people dont want to take the test? and the fact you have to complete a course before you can take the test (CITB rules, NOT MINE) So, should "FloorSkills" bring out a master fitter status ? it will be a lot cheaper than doing a accreditation as you can simply just do the practical test. However, just like the NICF master fitter, the Quickstep master fitter etc, well it wont be worth the paper it written on! (where as a proper accreditation does) However it will give you the status thing many installers and customers like and it would also give you some sort of backing on the quality of workmanship you can produce which will make me happy to recommend you.
The standards for passing the 'Master Fitter' will be lowered from what the official accreditation asks for to similar to the NICF master fitter also.
.Ps, anyone who has passed a CITB Accreditation with FloorSkills will automatically be sent a "Master Fitter" certificate as they have already passed at a higher level.
    So your thoughts please.

As you say customers see master fitter and think great. See citb accredited and they haven't got a clue.
    I think it's a great idea.
Will you do different categories? (Wood, carpet, lvt, etc)
How about apprentice, journeyman and master fitter?

How much was the accreditation wouldn't mind having a crack at that, is it just the bay start to finish inside a time limit

Deffo the way to go. Unfortunately customers aren't very clued up and think a Master Fitter would be better than Accredited.

It'd be more cost effective to just do the Accredited Creative as you automatically get the Master fitters badge with the accredited..

In master fitter, well a square area with a obstetrical, 3 steps, a winder and BN step. Same as accredited but easier. Standard will be similar to the NICF master fitter but addressing the weak points.

So floor skills could end up like every other ........no Matt keep it as it is, just include master states with accreditation pass for ease of public common sense. Want the title pay the money IMO.

I'd be surprised if Matt could call the award "masterfitter" as it's the same as the NICF. I done both to cover all angles.

    Why not?

Traditionally there has always been an apprentice, a journeyman and a master

What about master of carpet or master of wood? Rather than master fitter which is quite generic.

Problem is i think i would have to seperate the two. Otherwise people will think the NICF , the Quickstep along with the others are all the same. The accreditation is official and higher, hence im considering bringing in something equivalent to the others.

NICF have brought out something they call "accredited" which they class as lower than the Master Fitter that is really confusing people when the only official reconnised "accreditation" is the CITB one we run and is much higher than Master Fitter.

Really we all need to start singing out of the same Hyme book. Sadly i dont think NICF will be doing that for a long time yet. One day they might join in and stop making up their own qualifications, accreditation that don't exist in the real world.
