CITB accreditation is a official accreditation that is recognised with the governing boards (CITB) So like a NVQ, that is official. Please note tho that a CITB accreditation is not a Qualification, its a add on unit called a "accreditation"

Nicf Master Fitter is not sadly. It is a internal recognition within NICF.

Yes the accreditation test is set higher than the standards required to pass the NICF Master Fitter.

The standard to pass is higher. There is many things missing from master fitter that should be included. Manly subfloor prep, we have had many master fitters through floorskills, along with all my instructors being master fitters and my father being a ex master fitter assessor we know the ins and outs. Master fitter at present is more focused on the overall finish quality. However from what we are seeing and hearing from "master fitters" on the floorskills courses is they have very basic knowledge on things that WILL cause a floor failer. Their finish overall is A1 but if its going to fail later on then we have issues?

We have addressed this and included extras around subfloor prep etc that if "you know" will stop future failed floors. The overal look is No1, but we are more interested in if that look will stay with what ever flooring is installed.

PS , thats not supposed to read as a comparison, its what is expected knowledge , practical wise above.

NICF / FITA have a few.

    • You have the Carpet Right Fitter test (tailored for Carpet Right)
    • You have the Q+A card test (flooring industry equivalent of an endorsed accreditation, however not recognized)
    • You have "trainee fitter" for people on a apprenticeship (not necessarily a approved apprenticeship)
    • You have "nicf Fitter" (test done by written exam or oral that is posted out + 3 recommendations)
    • You have "nicf master fitter" reference, questions and preform a fitting test at FITA.

Yes spacey correct. I wont knock it and say "there not worth having" tho. The more you have to show a customer the better. After all, myself, FloorSkills, Nicf, FITA etc are trying to help and improve the trade.

But as you say, the above are not worth the paper its written on, there is no board like CITB governing the quality of the training, the instructors, the training centre and so on. No different to you or anyone else starting up training in your garden shed. However i wont ever knock the FITA / NICF Trainers, they are good at what they do, no dought about that. There are other company's out there that the training quality is disgusting.

So back to the accreditation (the real one from CITB) , what FloorSkills offers is the only official one in the u.k. Floorskills being the only training centre to pass the set out standards expected by CITB to be able to award a accreditation. Also teh only cert other than a NVQ, flooring diploma that actually is official.
