You guys with a 240v nilfisk 510b or str 701 can the motor be re wired to be 110v? Some machines have the option, they have both windings for 110v and 240 v on the same motor, I'm asking as I've seen a 240 v but need it for site work.
Spacey can you have a look under the motor casing to see if there's an extra way of wiring up to the motor? some motors in other machines have the option to wire up to be used as 110v with out changing the motor.
I've got the str so will have a look later. If you ire a 240 with a 110 plug it will just go slower due to the reduced power.
As far as im awares the motor couldnt be a 110v and a 240v as it runs at set voltages, like dazza says run it on a 110v plug and it wont pick up enough speed as it will be undervolted, just as if you put a 240v plug on a 110v it would blowup as your overvolting it, not sure you would have both on same motor as otherwise it would be a big big feature they would be pushing when selling. How much was the str your looking at? Ive seen a few 110v came up not neccarily on ebay but they do hold their value as they are very very good machines, in fact I got a brand new menzer esm406 for the same price I could find a used 110v str!
The price is £350 but 240v it's in excellent condition used only for wet scrubbing, I've got a 110v wolf buffer that I bought second hand not long ago but had trouble with it working on site wouldn't even spin with a sand disk, I've asked wirbel (same machine as wolff) and they said that around 7 to 8 years ago they had a batch of buffers that didn't have enough windings on the motor and had to sent back to the factory, I'm having mine looked at this coming week hope it's not one of those but the guy who I bought it off says it were like it is from brand new. A new motor could be up to £500 fitted I got quoted.
ouch if ya need to get a new motor for it, ive seen str's for about £700-800 for a used 110v, problem is 110v are not that common and get snapped up quick, I bought an old victor 110v machine on ebay for £200 about 3 years ago I then sold it 6 months ago for £330, they are like hens teeth
