hey guys, I've got to have an arthroscopy on my knee and I'm trying to find out how long I will need off work. They said I will be told at the pre op assessment, trouble is that's a week before the op and we're booking 6 weeks ahead so I need some idea now was hoping just a few days butters it could be 3 weeks Also anyone had there ACL or PCL done aswell and how long did that take, looks like this is what I'm going to be needing. Cheers
Sorry to hear that mate, I had an op done a while back, and started a post on it here http://theflooringforum.com/threads/knee-trouble.14547/ I needed a full 2 months off, and did start back gently, and with the use of pro-knee pads, which I got in from America. I can`t say for sure, but my guess is that these pads reduced the stress on my knee, to enable me to keep working, so I got some for my whole team. Don`t think I will ever make a 100% recovery, and I know my time left on my knees is limited. When were really busy, I do struggle a bit. I also considered a managerial position, which had opened up just at the right time, and seriously considered it, i`m just not quiet ready yet.
If its ligament then expect months off, done my knee when younger playing footy I "only" partially tore my mcl and strained my acl but I was in a brace for a couple of months followed by physio to get mobility back in the knee, the actual arthroscopy is keyhole isn't it so I'd imagine not long on that but could be any amount of time depending on damage to the joint and surrounding area.
Just had an arthroscopy torn meniscus three weeks off my knees then very ginger back on them.Alpros help. Good luck
Similar with me although as it was busy I was back after 2 weeks, in hindsight it was too soon though. It's never been the same since though and if it don't keep up with my exercises it's gets pretty painful even after 5 years Sent from my Galaxy S6
Change of topic/ish Been in the flooring trade for 10 years now and now and again get the odd twinge in my back as most im sure but last wed i had just finished laying a typical 4sqm wet room and was sweeping up my rubbish when BOOM pain id never felt before. Doctors got me on co-dydramol diclofenic and diazepam. Got an appointment tomorrow with someone who specialises in sports/swedish massages and that line of work so hopefully she sorts me out. One of them moments when you fear your career is over Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well doctor said its just muscle spasms, never had problems before apart from Odd twinge(usually when relaxed in bed about to drift off). Feeling better than last wed but still really painful. Hopefully will just heal itself. Wear and tear i suppose
I thought the same when it happened to me . Thought f... It . Then I got pain down my leg and then doctor said trapped nerve. Nhs were useless so went private physio . 2 sessions £30 a pop. Job 80% done .
Went and got a massage yesterday(not the happy ending ones) and i feel alot worse which she told me i should! And to give it 48hrs and iv to see her next week again its muscle damage so it will just take time to heal. No heavy lifting i guess. Got a pub refurb so laying the karndean isnt heavy work. Will just have to get up every so often Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had a full knee replacement a couple of years ago, and was back at work within 4 weeks. Best advice is to stick to the physio and exercise program and then go for as many walks as you can. That knee is OK now with the minimum of kneeling, but I'm noticing that the other leg may also need doing as it compensated for such a long time before the operation. Good luck with it - you won't regret having it done. Bob www.floorfixer.co.uk
