    Hi Guys,
I am a domestic carpet fitter by trade. We have historically priced our jobs for decades by the amount of m2 carpet used. For example total carpet used on job 250 m2 = 250 x £2.50 = price of job. Regardless of the fact that the net floor area may be 230 m2

As I understand it, it is different in the industrial flooring trade. It is worked out as net floor area = 230 m2 So 230 m2 at £15.00 for prime screed and fit of hard flooring = 230 m2 at £15 is the amount paid even though 245 m2 of flooring may have been supplied?

Is this a hard and fast rule and an agreed basis for pay in the hard flooring sector?

By the way, how you doing Spacey?

Yes, as a rule, this is the case. I have worked for a few commercial carpet firms, who still pay gross meterage, but never hard flooring.
Net installed meterage, and linear up the cove is the norm
