I am sorry if this sounds stupid, but I am a bit lost as to best cover the base of my dining room chairs so that they do not scratch my new LVT floor, and you folk seem to know a lot about floors. The legs of the chairs have these plastic black buttons under them. Should I put the felt pad on the buttons, or should I remove these black things completely and put felt pads directly onto the wood? The black buttons are hard plastic. I cant seem to upload a photo to this site, so I posted a photo to (take out the spaces) https :// imgur.com / a / O8VTY
Yes take the buttons off with a chesil or pilers. Felt pads need to be on a flat surface so they stay on.
One chair down, 5 more to go. Is this okay? https :// imgur.com / a/ Ywuf2 The felt pad was 6mm think. Is that too thick? And should I just go out and buy some round pads, as it was a bit of a pain cutting all these. Or are square pads better? Thank you both.
6mm is fine I use round pads as they fit on most furniture legs easily and you can just put a few on if it’s something like large table legs
Thank you all. I have ordered round pads off ebay. If the pads do not work out then I will give @Dan2223245's suggestion a try.
Ah yes, I can see now I wasn't clear in my reply I've bought the stick on round pads, and will try the screw on pads (I didn't even know screw-ons existed!) if I find that the sticky one's come off.
