Hey guys, anyone know if regupol 4515 (sound insulation) 5mm is ok to glue straight onto with Karndean Knight tile flooring? I've spoke to technical services and they say they have tested it with the 3mm and it has passed? Anyone with experience with this stuff please advise! Fball have said it can't be screeded.. Spoke to a few tech reps, apparently you can glue straight onto it.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Firm I work for have layed amtico over sound insulation not sure on the thickness on it though! I was sceptical but they was told apparently it can be done
What sheets did you use? And for what reason.. genuinely interested, the stuff seems soli and well stuck down. Would bonding to the 4.5mm be an issue with universal you think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It was Poly XL, in a block of about 50 social housing flats. They were complete, but failed the sound test. Stuck the Regupol on top of the existing XL, the XL on top. It then passed the sound test.
I just wonder why the 1.5mm difference from the 3mm to 4.5mm would cause LVT to be a yes to a no? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have you CMS ? or did Karndean say they tested it. CMS should have a spec sheet for do`s and dont`s Cant see that it would make much difference, i`d probably just do it.
we are laying this type of product under the Amtico at Wembley, but 3mm and Amtico and the acoustic company have agreed it, the 5mm is very dense so will be okay,( also just laid 3 layers of the rubber and put carpet tiles on it to bring it up to 15mm timber , they have castor chairs and its working fine ) On the 1st phase 2 years we laid sheet 1200m2 of itec sheet on it, the company i get it from do two different types , one with a smoother finish and one that is cheaper but a little course, when we lad the itec sheet, you did notice now and again some of the joints , and some of the faults with the course product.and we have used some feather finish on the joints which were bad and haven't had a problem, so I would lay it.
Thanks for the reply I spoke to Regupol tech and they said it's absolutely fine, they have worked closely with Karndean on it. The 4515 multi is made of rubber and cork so it can cause plasticised migration, which is Karndean's main concern. They did recommend using their universal adhesive which I am doing. It can’t, it’s subject to plasticiser migration no adhesives will help with it, just jumpax it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Use Softlay a far superior product as it’s made out of polymer and glass fibre so unlike the recycled option above it can’t swell when wet etc www.softlay.co.uk
Regupol tech department would disagree sir, it's done now if anything does happen I will update here Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve had tech departments tell me it’s fine to float solid woods and as we all know it’s a bad idea, I’ve also seen firsthand the reaction between regupol and lvt and it wasn’t good just hope they’ll back it up when it happens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The regupol 4515 3mm has been approved and tested by Karndean, have you seen it happen with those products? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well believe it or not I came on here to ask the same questions as iv just been asked to do a regupol job with karndean . What I will say is I laid amtico signature parquet on this stuff around 8 years ago , had loads of probs getting adhiesives to work - eventually using f46 which worked fine I got told I had to leave expansion gap and I heard the customer ended up with pressure points from heavy furniture . I’m not sure what karndean range or designs going down but if it’s knight tile il knock it back although I might go for it if it’s a large heavy plank like Van Gogh . Last time was screed regupol then signature . Not sure what’s involved yet for these flats . Regarding jumpax do you guys leave expansion gap ,?
