Hi, i dont want to come across as one of those "hes done a 2 day course and thinks he can fit" people lol But is the level 1 course good enough to get me going on small areas such as bathrooms and halls/kitchens on site work?ive done a bathroom(ply and fit) here and there learning from a friend and watched others for years. Looking to expand the work load for a day as im taking on a 2nd apprentice. Cheers
Small areas are same as lager areas, still have cuts againt skirts/architraves etc and depends how quick you are to learn a skill. You can learn how to do a certain way in your head but it's the 'how long it takes to learn that certain skill with your hands. What you don't want to do is go to the course, drop yourself in the deep end by taking on a load of work the making a mess (working under pressure) and killing your future reputation before it's even started!
I understand that, i only fit carpet at the moment, where i sub to they pay £75 for ply and fit of a bathroom so even just 1 or 2 ontop of a house of carpet is a good start
for ply & FIT? That should be for ply only! ...but yes there's no harm in going for it mate, we gotta start from somewhere hey
The others moan he doesnt pay enough for ply and fit too lol, they get £12sqm for dpm latex and fit all supplied. is that good or bad? Its all site work
No where near enough, that may cover 1 3mm layer of screed depending on what’s spec’d, costs were higher than that 15 years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Still not enough pretty low, and I’ve never known a builders screed able to take a dpm it’s always 2 coats, plus cost of grinding laitence if the builders haven’t done so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He's taking the piss mate, good and proper, when you say site work do you mean new builds? To me new builds is domestic fitting and a guy my way on pays around £15m2 screed and fit dpm is an extra £3 it's the roll on 2 coat type.
