Hi guys, I'm researching about vynil flooring as I had Amtico on my previous flat and I really liked it, and now as I've moved to a bigger house I'm considering Vynil again to replace the old engineered wood which is full of marks and dents. I'm trying to stay away from glue down versions due to the complexity and costs associated with ply + feather finish and glue the vinyl tiles so I ended up coming across Polyfloor Camaro Loc and Quickstep Livyn which seems to be reasonable good so far I can see but not many reports of installations done. Have you guys got any experience with both and would be kind enough to share some experience how good/bad these 2 products are? I've seen already that both brands require you to use their own underlay to give you any sort of warranty for example
You still have to prepare the subfloor before installing a click system So I'd say a glue down LVT is the best option
As long as floor is within tolerance you could use a clic system, looks good when skirts are off and put back on after, personally I'd go for a glue one pro installed though
I'll check my subfloor when I remove the existing flooring. The house was built in 2005 so I would assume the subfloor should be okay. The costs are the main factor driving me towards the click system instead of glue down. I was checking prices for marine grade ply and the work involved putting it in place, it costs the same as the labour to install the flooring. I would love to go to amtico glued down like my previous flat, but the costs are way above what I'm able to afford unfortunately
The quickstep clic is a great product. We’ve fitted miles of it and never had any issues. If you’ve got a flat chipboard floor you can go straight over it with the underlay. Any lumps, dips or uneven edges will eventually shadow through tho so make sure the subfloor is very flat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Never assume a floor is good under existing floor covering. Still best to have Surface regularity 1 for click or glue down and You don't need marine ply for LVT you need flooring grade ie Sp101 or FG1 plywood unless you go for click then you can use anything if your not bonding to it
And stay away from Camaro Loc it’s horrendously bad, every job we’ve ever done in it has failed and Polyflor don’t want to know, stick to Livyn for a lock system, but be aware it doesn’t work out any less expensive than dryback LVT you will need your floor Plying or screeding beforehand. Or search for Softlay underlays, use LVT Pro then use any lvt you would like straight over it, providing the floor is level
Thanks for your feedback. Perhaps if there are any imperfections I can feather finish it as long the floor is solid and not warping? Yep, I'll ensure it is levelled. So the major point with the ply is so that is doesn't strip off if you glue to LVT to it? my idea is to check if the underfloor is flat to use the quickstep clic, if it is bad then I would need to ply it and then go for glue down. I'm hoping the underfloor is in good shape considering the house was built in 2005 so I can get the clic installed and save some money Thanks for the feedback on the camaro loc! So far it seems I'll have to use quickstep underlay as anything else they wont cover under warranty, so no options here I think
