Mother in law wants amtico layed in the kitchen. There is a very solid laminate down at the minute with no movement under foot. Can a 6mm ply over the top be suitable to lay amtico plank on?
Simply no, always uplift. Laminates are meant to move may seem enough but you’ll have issues down the line. Not worth the risk if it was my job Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The laminate is top of a wayrock board floor. Lift the laminate then a thicker ply to the wayrock? Or does the wayrock provide the same problems as the laminate?
No particular reason. I have been floorlaying for 4 years but all commercial so i havnt much experience dealing with laminate at alll. Just wondering if it was as easy as plying over.
Always go down to original sub floor if you can, ply will be fine on top of structural subs like floorboards chipboard etc just use nails or screws
I laid Karndean straight on top of my daughters laminate. No direct sunlight. Over 8 years it shrank 3mm on edges. Would I do it on a customers. No.
Thanks for replys lads think im goin to go for it. Obv a payin customer its a no no but for the mother in law it will do
