Hi all, Have any of you had any problems with uzin new ke49 ? We’ve been called back to lvt job where we installed Cavalio to Hallway, kitchen and conservatory. It was back in mid August we fitted. We used f46 in Hallway kitchen which looks fab, we used uzin ke 49 in the conservatory as south facing and wanted to use Ht adhesive to assure it was all good with the temperature. We done everything to spec Delivered tiles & 6mm ply few days before fitting to acclimatise. Fitted Ply’d using ring shanks every 4 inches with cn45 nail gun followed by feathering then the Tiles we dry fitting x4 rows at a time going on to glue once slightly tacky and it looked great when we finished. So when Cust contacted us last week saying gaps had appeared over the whole conservatory floor we were surprised as we done everything as far as we knew as should be done. But on inspection we couldn’t believe how much it had opened up. My thoughts are it has to be down to the heat from the sun and adhesive wasn’t up to it. What in your experiences would you say or advice on future jobs?
Yeah Ardex. We always have feathered all over ply thought best practice to as covers any imperfections I normally rub it down go over couple times get proper ocd on it for a perfect finish.
ok I see, The tiles aren’t loose in anyway there solid stuck down if it was the feather wouldn’t they have come loose ? So in future would you advice ply then screed ?
Cheers for your advice Spacey Much appreciated Wonder if Ardex advice not to use in conservatories. what would you suggest to resolve this ? I’m not really up for ripping it all up.
So you would only feather joints when nailed? As the nail heads will shine through. Isn't it best to screed over the ply?
I only feather the seams unless the subfloor is a bit ropey Coil nails don't show through when there counter sunk
Adhesives bonds better to ply than feather so aslong as the seams don't show through the feather it's good to go
When you say too weak, do you mean the bond strength to the actual wood? and the uzin gives a stronger bond? didn’t know this Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pity it wasn’t Spacia you could had just said that’s the way the product is made . Does this conservatory have central heating ? If it’s like a freezer in winter 2 part epoxy is my only choice of glue
