We got amtico spacia fitted today and I notice that there is a slightly bumpy appearance when light shines on it. Any advice as to what I should do?

Is this normal. The rest of the downstairs seems fine it's just this area near the doorway that seems to be the problem. We haven't paid the rest of the job yet.

Would love opinions as to what we can do now? Live with it? Fix it?

What do you think is wrong with it? So it's not normal to have bumps like that?

Just mention it to the fitters/shop, natural light will always show up any imperfections. It shouldn’t be too much of a job to put right if they are reasonable. Looks like the screed didn’t get buffed/rubbed down.

OK thanks for the advice. Is it difficult to fix? Would the whole section have to be taken up or can individual boards be taken up?

    Buffed or rubbed down seriously?
You'd need a grinder on that mess

Put a straight edge or level on the floor in different places including the pic area and see if it will lay flat Then you'll know what need sorted. if it just that area the whole section would need lifted smoothed and refitted. If the whole floor is like that it's a full replacement

It's just this section about 4/5 boards affected. We wanted to put in door frames next week and skirting and now we are wondering if we should hold off until its fixed. Disappointed in this.. I'm afraid the shop wont fix it.

Dont pay the rest of the bill till its sorted.

Section needs taking out and good rub down and it'll be better but whether it'll be perfect then that's different question.

Looking at it again it looks similar to when screed pops...have you tapped it? Any hollow sound?

Called the fitter and he is blaming my tiles. That they were originally badly laid so that the self levelling compound couldn't level properly because my original tiles which the amtico was going down on were so bad. Don't know what to do now. Surely they would have told me my floor wasn't suitable. They had the same tiles in kitchen and utility but no problem there o_O

Old tiles meaning ceramic I believe? Sounds like an excuse tbh, a rub down and some feather finish first time around would of smoothed this out to a somewhat “better” finish.

How big of a job would it be to fix it? We were hoping to install our kitchen Tuesday. Will the entire floor need to be lifted or can they fix a section? Don't know what we should ask for? We still need to pay the 1200 balance. Would love advice! Could it be that our floor is the problem or do we have a comeback!

Its always hard to give advice without seeing the job and knowing what systems have been used. But yes technically If the screed has been used correctly and has bonded, the planks that are of concern can be lifted in this section and out right imo.

It seems to be the whole hallway section... here are more photos of a different part of the hallway...
Don't know if I can face looking at this every day

nothing to do with your tiles, thats poor work. a bad attempt at laying a smoothing compound. Will need lifting and rubbing down and then you can relay. Its alot of rubbing down

Thanks merit. When you say it will need lifting do you mean the whole floor or just the hallway section? Thanks so much for your advice.

Theres so much it could all need lifting but with time and effort they could make it look better. Its not impossible. maybe just circle the worst areas that are visible, uplift Amtico, grind down, re feather and re lay. To be honest it probably all looks like that and should be completely re done.

As Dan says. Get them to come back and fix it by taking up. Feathering a few times and relaying.
Don’t pay your bill till you are happy.
