As long as there more than 4 metres away from my van I'm happy. Hate carpet Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
supposedly they are to be two thirds of the thickness of the carpet , away from the skirting ?? Cant see how that works on carpet one inch thick tho ??
I always found a bit of 6mm ply set the gap perfect for any twist. That’s what we give the apprentice. Loops and naturals have to be a lot tighter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I could always evaluate a domestic carpet fitters grasp of his trade by asking him about his gripper gap or watching him fit gripper. Anyone who fits gripper more than 7mm from the skirting hasn't got a clue what he is doing or supposed to be doing. 6mm is perfect for 95% of carpets. Cheap rubbish and felt backed often require 4mm. Extremely heavy duty may need 7mm.
I know alot of fitters who teach there lads to put them a grippers width away, i find that just a touch wide. Works with some carpets though.
20mm for almost everything, the same for continuous stairs and joins between stairs and landings, and joins in stairs. There is no discrepancy in appearance from one to the other. For really thick Invictus type carpets perhaps up to 25mm but never more. For extremely thin felt backed rubbish and sisal 15mm.
That is, 20mm space in between the gripperrods, and an equal distance of both from the crotch of the step.
