I just bought a new build house with no flooring in most of it. I am looking to install LVT to the bedrooms, kitchen and living room. About 80sqm in total. We have been looking on colours/texture with the wife and we like a wood-style LVT from the Polyflor Camaro Range. We have been shopping around quotes but some of the fitters refuse to install the Camaro on the basis that it tends to shrink after a couple of years while other say that this is not true and is perfectly fine. Quotes on prep and fitting also vary a lot. I have been told by the site manager that latexing would be required, but they cannot provide access to any fitters in the property any time soon and I have to work on the basis of the plans. So my questions are:
What do you think of the Camaro? It goes for around 17sqm. Should I consider an alternative such as the Karndean Knight Tile that goes for around the same price?
What should be a reasonable price range for latex preparation and fitting per sqm outside London?

    Thanks!

    Hi Nick,
Without any of us seeing the sub-floor, doing moisture testing etc we can’t even give you a ballpark figure on the cost to prep the floor correctly. Avoid Knight Tile if possible there’s been numerous QC issues over a prolonged period of time, and I would advise getting the flooring from your installer so there’s one person to deal with in the event something does go wrong.

Nothing wrong with knight tile or Camaro
Any "Shrinking" issues are down to installation not the products

As the other guys have said, if its installed correctly and the right glue has been used then there shouldn't be any issues with shrinkage. The right glue, used correctly and the acclimatization process makes the difference between a good installation and a failing floor. of course the correct floor prep too! Ive never had a problem with the camaro but have had issues with karndean lately :(

Ok thank you guys, Camaro it is then! Now I have to find the right fitter, I have got quotes ranging from 15 to 40 hours per sqm but I guess these are random as none has seen the floor yet. I will try to get permission from the developers to bring a few fitters in to get a more accurate quote.

I’d go for fusion floors in that price range . 2.5mm thick with bevelled edges and better wear layer .

Loads out there better then Camaro for similar money. You want a .55mm wearlayer

Thank you everybody. Had some fusion samples today and it looks higher quality than both the camaro and the knight tile

I don’t have any problems with camaro just maintain 18 -25 degrees 48 hours either side and try not to shock it
