Hi im going through the process of finding a good LVT (looking to do 60sqm over chipboard) with a decent wear layer in the Leeds area. I was going to go with Karndean Van Gough (£38/sqm) in a French Oak colour but all in all the quote i got came out to £80/sqm installed which seems excessive.

Now ive found “Amtico Form Parquet Carved Oak FS7W5960” from Lifestyle Flooring UK.

Its marked down from £65/sqm to around £36/sqm which looks like a great price. I know I will have to factor in ply/glue/installation etc.. costs but overall id expect it to be under £80/sqm installed for a better? product.

One thing i noticed though is the wear layer is 0.7mm on the Amtico vs .55 on the Karndean but the overall thickness is 2.5mm (Amtico) vs 3mm with the Karndean.

Is this a good price for the Amtico?

Considering the discount is it likely to be B grade product?

Is the overall thickness more important than the wear layer thickness?

    Thanks in advance.

That’s screaming B grade at that price I wouldn’t fit it honestly keep to Van Gogh truthfully in this price bracket. As far as costing goes it depends on the job and how you want it installing but £80m2 supplies and installed isn’t far off the mark

Thanks for your reply. I spoke to them over the phone and they said they had around 80sqm of the Amtico from a cancelled commercial order and I could go down there to check it out, but they don’t do installs so would have to find a fitter myself.

But if theres any chance its B grade, like the cuts are not quite right etc.. I would rather leave it and go with the Van Gough, just read bad things about scratching/sunlight bleaching with the range so was looking for alternatives.

Thanks for the feedback on the price I was just shocked at the install price being more than the product cost itself!

Anything can scratch and change colour with UV, taking some preventive measures will be a big help such as blinds on windows and a mat at the front door also castor cups under heavy furniture to spread the load and help lessen any indents.

Just be aware, there will probably be no manufacturer warranty

Ive used lifestyle for Amtico parquet for a while now and its been fine, no different to getting through the rep over the counter where I use.

Be careful with Lifestyle though. Have a look at reviews and go onto amtico site as they have a disclaimer saying they are not associated with lifestyle and do not supply them. Guarantees are null and void if you buy from them.

Not to be confused with Headlam Lifestyle. Can't believe they haven't stopped them trading as Lifestyle under passing off laws.
