Has anyone used thermal stream underlay? It’s got a low tog rating as it appears to have loads of little holes punched through it. One of my customers has found it online and is keen to use it as it’s 10mm instead of the usual rock hard 6mm carpet underlay for ufh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hi, I just wondered if your customer ended up using this? We are looking at it ourselves and keen to find some reviews of somebody who has used it. With the 10mm thickness it would be great but we are in two minds as to whether it will limit the heat. TIA.
Hi, yes they did. It does make the carpet feel spongey but it feels a little lightweight to me. Not sure how it will stand up over time. The heat was defo getting through it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not sure if it helps, but i've had ThermalStream down in our UFH lounge renovation for over 2 years now and its fantastic. It was a bit more expensive than those rock solid thin rubber underlays but it definitely pays to go for better quality and have softer feeling. All the other carpets in the house feel hard in comparison now - me and the wife need to save up to finish the other rooms off (donations welcome ha ha).
Thanks very much, good to hear its still working well 2 years on. We’ve decided to use it and so far (a month in) we are very happy with it - and it works well. So surprised that many fitters hadn’t even heard of it! We’re the same as you - just to do the rest of the rooms now!!
