Are the cork board stuck down or floated on underlay?

If you’ve paid for uplift and screed it should be flat/smooth. You shouldn’t have to pay for another coat of levelling compound. Is he doing another coat?

I’m using floating cork planks but was reading that they’re best glued down.

He has now stopped answering my calls so it’s difficult to know what his plans are! Even with another coat, the carpet remnants are so lumpy, I don’t know how he could make this smooth! Would sanding and grinding this help at least?

That’s terrible. At the least he will need to break all that carpet out and re screed. Can’t leave it like that

What do you mean by breaking out the carpet? Can it be sanded off or does the screed needs to removed and taken off?

Can some of you give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost to get this up and redone?

So he has the equipment to grind the screed and residue down, but chose to do it after screeding, then apply another coat, seems an odd way round of doing it and a waste of screed and time, when they could have done the same thing and missed out the first coat

Paul, that’s exactly what I thought! Would’ve been simpler to do it that way! I don’t know anything about flooring but even I would think that’s the way to do it!

I’m really gutted. I’m a start up business with not much spare £ for this project and I know this will not cost me more to rectify

I don't think he has the equipment other than a buffer. Thing is he isn't going to be paying himself decent for this 2nd coat seeing as he'll need another 15bags or so o_O
He's bit off more than he can chew

Is he even planning to do the second coat or was he saying that’s down to you?

What a day I’ve had sorting that out. He’s come back to me earlier saying he’ll finish this by grinding it off and laying another layer of screed as it’s the “process”. I was dubious of this so called process so I contacted a different local flooring company and showed them these photos and videos. He was shocked and appalled , as many of you say, he hasn’t seen anything this awful. He didn’t even sweep the floor before screeding so we saw bolts, washers, loose bits of carpet under the screed. He advised me to cut my losses and terminate my agreement with the other guy. Which I’ve done. After a week of not returning my calls, he’s suddenly calling me loads. Tomorrow, the new company is viewing the site and see what damage control can be done.

I hope this is the last I hear of the other fitter! He clearly had no clue what he was doing, although he told me he has 23 years of experience doing flooring for big corporates!

Apparently if I ring any flooring fitter, it’s the process you all follow. See his text to me

In 34 years of flooring I’ve never seen anyone do that.

Haha why do all the cowboys come out with that one..."I've done loads of airports"

So what's the situation then on this?
Have you told him to do one....?

See my long post above. Yes, I told him where to go! I’ve found someone who knows what he’s doing — sent me data sheets of the screed products and like the code of conduct segment where it shows he’s basically done nothing to follow appropriate procedure!!

That’s what always makes me chuckle the information is freely available yet you’ll always find someone arguing the toss.
