    They seem to be.
There’s very small missing pieces on the triangular edge sections as well

Looks like they have had the odd go of bevelling them in.

By looks of the picture they did the field first then started putting the border in?

On the side of the border that is against the skirting board - do they have a bevel on?

Depending where they have started aswell, you can see by the cuts that it's swung out but that is unavoidable if it lines up where they started

Yeah think they did the field first.
Just spoke to him, he said he started bevelling with a tool but it was causing the top layer on the triangular pieces at the corner to come off, hence the missing pieces. He said he stopped after that but he’s gonna try with his knife instead of the tool.

He also said Karndean is notorious for gapping and said he’s had a Karndean rep out before and if they can’t get a credit card in then they’re not interested. He said you can score down the edges to fill in.

On the one long plank that has been trimmed down to side (see pic), he said it’s almost impossible to get it perfect around an island hence why he’s cut the width down. Not sure if he’s bullshitting me or not.

He has been scribing the planks in on the border because one of my skirts is way off so he’s had to cut the border to suit

It is going round an island unit like this. I think he just went straight into glue when doing the laying. He said he wanted to keep the pattern down either side of the island.

Should they have dry laid it first to see if any pieces stuck out?

That's bullshit, if he had dry laid it round the island first to line it up then he wouldn't have that issue. That's the problem with some of these fitters, they come up with a load of excuses because they just can't do it.

It's not near impossible, yeah it's a ball ache doing the dry fit and time consuming but that's how it supposed to be done properly.

He's right about the rep though, they said that to me and a few other aswell and as said art select can be pretty crap sometimes

    It’s a Rowland Home.

they’ve left now but I’ve noticed that on one side of the island, the triangular edge sections start off one size and gradually become smaller. Should they all be the same size?

That could be because it's swung out.
Not all fitters do it but I spend a good hr with my laser/template to see how the cuts can come out best but like I say not all.

Them little cuts look awful to me, I wouldn't be happy with that. They just hit you because of the larger herringbone pattern.

How did they do the bevelling?

He just went straight into laying it I think. Which cuts are you referring to?
He used an exact knife as the he said the bevelling tool used for amtico takes too much of the wear layer off.
Not sure on this border joint for the downstairs bathroom. Thinking he should’ve used three full planks rather than the slim on in the middle. What do you think? First pic is what he’s done, second is what I think it should be. I didn’t noticed until after he left.

In general he said it went well and that a Karndean rep would come down and say nothing wrong with it.

I was surprised how quick they did it, I thought theyd take more time. I’ve nothing to compare it to though tbf.
Must have spent max 11hrs in total between the two of them over two days.

Don’t know if this guy is the worst of their fitters but looking back wish I would’ve gone with someone else who takes their time more.

Personally think art select is an awful plank to do border work with.

Yes he could have got away with just using 3 blocks instead of adding the slim strip but it was probably because he didn't want to lose the border width from the door, I would have just ran the 3 blocks personally.

The fitting in general doesn't look to bad though, it's just the attention to the detail.

The little triangles near your units is what I was referring to.

I think I’m gonna get him back to do the 3 planks, just looks a bit odd with that one small strip in the middle.

Yeah not exactly thrilled about the triangles but he’d have to redo a massive part of the floor and I don’t know if I can be bothered with the aggro.
