What Plywood

    A few real simple question here guys that may not have simple straightforward answers.

    What plywood do you guys use?
    Grades, thickness, manufacturer.

    Why do you use you Plywood of choice?
    Cost, quality.

    What is your chosen source?
    Distributor (who), direct from manufacturer.

    Purchase patterns
    Bulk and stored in warehouse, as and when required.

    Either FG-1 or SP101. 6mm usually. Thicker if required.

    Much the same as above. FG1 or SP101 and always distribution, nearly always direct to site.
    Normally I stick to one supplier, but at the moment, whoever is cheapest.

    Same, always have a few sheets, just in case, but with next day delivery, no point storing it, just order it a week in advance of each job

    Yes sp101 or FG1 , feather joints twice and sand down with orbital sander
    Buy from the cheapest supplier I can find.

    Who is your cheapest supplier at the minute Daz ?
    Ive got one is Bristol in the next week or so, and not bought any for a while.

    I need over 60 sheets of 8x4 6mm for next week.
    Just checked and one of my suppliers is now at £31.95 -30%
    I quoted the job a year ago, so thats a kick up the bollox !

    No one I asked has FG1.
    Only option was Chinese or Sp101. I did find one Malaysian suppler, but no stock, and un able to give a quote due to rising shipping costs.

    I don`t mate no. I tried Hedlam, C&F, STS and a couple of others. This job is local to me, but many of my jobs are across the Uk so I really need distribution nationally for most orders.

    Check Solent Wholesale in Chichester mate. Think they can do pallets nationally for ply and prices aren’t horrific for Sp101 from memory.

    I have, but some time ago now. They were only really interested in pallets, and I don`t have the space to store them, or a central location.
    It was cheaper, but more trouble than it was worth.

    I've been told sp101 of 6mm at least is the way to go
