The last few months every carpet the backing is coming away. The latex just crumbing away. My fitter has told me to stop selling it now
I sell alot of the primo grande and [touch wood] I've never had the delamination. It is odd though how cormar has had this issue going on for several years now but going by most other fitters yet still happening
I’ve never really been a fan of Cormar. Always felt the backing to be stiffer and harder to work with than other brands. With the backings delaminating it’s just reinforced my belief they aren’t that good a manufacturer. That said and done the odd time I have ordered some as a one off it’s been ok. Nothing special but not terrible either.
We get through about 20ish cuts a week and carry roll stock. Other than the odd smelly one (which is an enzyme used to set the latex) we don't have any issues.
I went back to do some further work on a house that I'd put a load of that grande in including stairs and it's been about 14mths and I was surprised how fresh it still looks.
Inglewood Saxony (which has more or less become the replacement for Furlong Indulgence), Primo Grande/Ultra/Naturals, and Apollo Extra. Plus a fair amount of the Malabar/Boucle. Some of what would have been Primo sales have gone the way of Victoria's Freedom Extra and Heartland Heathers recently though - as we finally, after many years, have a great rep that shows interest (mainly because of how much Distinctive/Universal we do). I think a lot of what gets sold most is down to the reps of the companies that represent them. Furlong get a lot of business due to Tim, as do Cormar due to Dave, and Vic's due to Sam. Whereas you have comapnies like Brockway, where the rep told us he didn't bother coming in as we didn't sell much - at which point I revealed the last three houses' worth of carpets I'd tried to order had all been disco'd at least a year prior... So that's why Penthouse got the orders instead. Feared the fact we had a new Penthouse rep but then rejoiced when it turned out to be one of the best Headlam reps we'd had that left recently. Well, that was a ramble...
What you say about reps is so true. A supportive one will really help you sell more if they products.
Cormar is terrible. The backing doesn’t last long if it’s not delaminated by the time you get it. I’ve seen it coming out of the stairs a lot. It’s not the carpet coming out, it’s where the tops delaminating from the backing. So many more carpets that are better backed. Cormar is cheap for what you appear to get that’s why everyone loves it. And always in stock. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had that with cormar too, where the pile starts coming out on stairs. Been complaining for years about cormar backings, trouble is its what the builders specify. Got a £4m house to do over 3 days all in sensations feelings...
