Hi Guys/girls, I'm new to this forum and to Karndean tiling. We've just had limed oak herringbone tiles fitted throughout the ground floor of our house. I'm really pleased with it but there's a few snags that need fixing. Mainly a slight overlap on 4 separate tiles that I've found. Everywhere was screeded, left to dry, and another thin coat (feather coat?) put on top. To be honest, I'm not sure of the process when they are fitting the tiles as I wasn't around when they did this bit. To give the benefit of the doubt, I'm thinking that they may trim the overlaps afterwards but missed/forgot about these. If this is not the case and they purposely left it like this then it's not good. Anyway, I'm confident that these will be fixed. My main question is that I started getting paranoid then and started looking at everything. It does look like they have done a good job to be fair but I started looking at every tile that might be a fraction of a mm higher than the others. If I go around the edges of the rooms, particularly near the skirting there's the odd tile that I can press down on and there is very slight up/down movement. It's not going to lift but my concern is that it may start to after a couple of years, for instance. So the question is, should I be concerned or am I being too picky. Not sure if it matters but we decided not to have a border so the herringbone goes straight up to the skirting, We are in a decent position in that we haven't yet paid the balance but once they fix the 4 tiles mentioned they will be expecting to be paid unless I make a big deal out of it. I couldn’t upload a video. In this example the rest of the tile is firmly fixed. If I push down on the part that’s raised there is movement as though there’s just some adhesive missing from that point.
Not a big job to re-stick the suspect planks but they shouldn’t be like that. Water will just get in there and worsen it over time. Needs sorting
