Hello first post but we have major issues with karndean that has been fitted (in our minds very badly). There are gaps around the edges / gaps in the planks / areas where there are ridges / and it is lifting both around edges and in middle of the room.

It is a renovation and we have underfloor heating, the heating was off for a period and the temperature dropped after the karndean was fitted (about 2 weeks after) but temp did not go down to freezing. I have read online that properly fitted karndean should not shrink anyway so thinking this should not cause all of these issues anyway? We are going to take this up with the project manager and have asked for the fitters details and guarantee also but wanted some advice from experts as we are so disappointed. We have had Karndean previously and the house was far colder than this with big temp swings and never had this issue previously.

The floor has been fitted onto a board and then glued down, think you can see this on one of the attached pics where it has lifted fully up.

Help greatly received! As be good to also understand what should have been done also

    Thanks all IMG_5451 2.jpg IMG_5456 2.jpg IMG_5464 2.jpg IMG_5465 2.jpg IMG_5466 2.jpg IMG_5446 2.jpg IMG_5452 2.jpg

Looks like it's on Pressure sensitive adhesive What little there is of it anyway !

Its not suitable for use on UFH with LVT

Should be laid on High Temperature adhesive

Its failed need ripped up and replaced

on the pic where I have sad "same again here" the other pic won't upload but had said that there is a visible ridge across the floor like a floorboard line where it hasn't been levelled flat and then putting the karndean on top shows the ridge in the karndean and presumably this will lift over time, as well as looking t

Hi guys thanks for the replies, how do you know about the adhesive used is it a different colour? (Sorry no knowledge of this!)…. Also don’t know if it was feathered as didn’t see the installation unfortunately, but in sections there are visible lines which I presume is where the joins sit on the ply where they have been glued together before the karndean has been laid. I doubt that the planks were acclimatised to the room before as was fitted quickly and have read about this maybe being an issue? The floor looked fine when it was laid and we are now having these issues and it looks terrible

Without the correct prep then it's only a matter of time before the faults show if they don't straight away especially it being a timber floor (flexible)

So he has glued the ply down to the UFH mats then?....and was the floor fitted the same day the ply was out down?

Hi the UFH looks like this upstairs, pipes in metal spreader plate then the floor is glued together (this has been down months and looks as per picture) A9CA6F51-C333-462F-A4CB-951D303EC086.jpeg 84A36B84-4E81-4668-9F90-49182D9DE717.jpeg 84A36B84-4E81-4668-9F90-49182D9DE717.jpeg then think he put a 6mm on top of this then glued Karndean down

Can’t see pics but it sounds dodgey. Have you tested the heat of the ufh? Was the floor temp taken?

Hi sorry I presume the ply was stuck down so as to not put nails through any pipe work for the UFH as it is a wet system

That will be the air temperature, do you know what temperature the floor is? I take it there isn't a floor temperature sensor

Hi no unfortunately I don’t know the actual floor temperature as there isn’t a sensor, should this have been checked? Presume so before fitting any advice on how we proceed?

The problem with these retro fit wet systems is you have a heat source of 30°+ ,in direct contact with the floor covering and unlike electric systems, they do not fit a floor sensor to monitor the temperature

Hi it is not a retro fit system, the whole thing is new. It has a spreader plate which is standard for upstairs (unless you have a concrete first floor). Can someone tell me the process that should have been followed for upstairs with UFH? Or does someone live in or around Derbyshire and want to come and have a look? Obvs happy to pay as want it solving! Cheers
