Please help as we have never had Amtico before and need advice

We had Amtico fitted by a registered fitter but we are not happy with the finished product.

We previously had tiles down in the bathroom, which our plumber removed prior to flooring being put down. The flooring people did not prep the floor before putting the ply down (they put straight on top of grout left over from the tiles). This left the floor really uneven. When voicing our concerns he said he would latex the floor, but just feathered it instead.
The final floor is now down but as you can see with the pictures, the floor is nowhere near level. Also there are small gaps in between the planks. Is this normal? Would this mean it will not be water tight?

A couple of planks are sticking up from the floor also.

I was also under the impression that we would not need beading with Amtico as it's meant to be tight to the skirting but they have beaded it.

    Many thanks for any advice.

So is the floor flat but just not level? (On a slant)

A few pics of the whole floor if you could...

Do you know what 'mm' ply they used?

I silicon all my Bathrooms when using LVT but 99% of the time it's clear silicon and the smallest bead

Wouldn’t be water tight even if there was no gaps, it’s the adhesive that’s the important part in bathrooms

They used 6mm ply but I was told by the second lot of fitters that it wasn't good quality ply.

The floor isn't on a slant, there are some flat bits and some bumpy bits. If you run your hand over the floor you can still feel them.

The beading is clear and is a small amount all around the bathroom edge.

You mean silicone. That’s Normal on some bathrooms.
Looks like not enough prep was done and that’s why it’s not flat. You should push for money back. all the tile adhesive should be removed or screeded before the ply goes down.

Thanks for the advice. We have spoken to the flooring company who have basically told us that it is not their place as a flooring company to make sure that the floor is prepped beforehand and that it's not their fault that it isn't level. (There are bulges throughout). I'm not really sure where we stand with this now? Do you know if other flooring companies include prepping the floor as part of the overall service for Amtico?
    Thanks

That’s is ridiculous. Anyone selling Amtico should and would want to do the prep themselves. I never let anyone do prep for us.

You need to email these pics and what happened to Amtico.

Where did you buy the Amtico ?

Absolute joke. They should refuse to install if your subfloor is bad and they don’t have the skill to prepare it. Just putting down and claiming it’s not their fault is ridiculous. It’s like laying it down without sweeping the floor and saying it’s not their responsibility to sweep the floor. It sounds like they should t be responsible for much I’m afraid.

    Thanks for the info
It was from an authorised fitter so I think we will contact Amtico as our next
They actually didn't even sweep the floor! We paid a 70% deposit. Not sure where we stand if we refuse to pay the rest? I will be contacting amtico. Thanks all for advice

The job we’ve just done this week. Lifted old Amtico to find the floor board have been badly effected by damp. Very cupped, completely rotted out in one corner. Also the toilet had a old leak and the boarding beneath it was rotten. We had to tell the customer to get a plumber in to remove the toilet. We’ve had to rip out 6 length of floorboard and a square section beneath the toilet and replace with 18mm osb. Then overlay the whole floor with 6mm ply and then a coat of flexible levelling compound over the whole floor to make sure it’s flat enough. That’s all for a 2m x 2m downstairs wc.

Terrible, I’m hearing more and more stories like this. Customer today wants us to do his floor. He was going to use a cheaper company but they have asked for 100% payment upfront before fitting starts. He’s refused, so they have told him he cannot have his £500 deposit back that he paid in advance to secure fitting dates.
    Shocking way to do business

Sounds like another cowboy outfit trying to make a quick raise!

How can they seriously think it's none of their responsibility o_O
Don't give them anymore money regardless how threatening they get, not sure how this will get resolved easily enough if they won't play ball though...
