Hi guys some advise from what I have read a plywood subfloor/overboard over my floorboards should be either nailed or screwed down @ 150mm intervals.

Okay, so why 150mm intervals I assume that it's this distance because it offers the best security?

Also I assume you would remove the skirting board to allow for the expansion gaps.

Correct it’s good practice to do this but look at what your laying over so if for example your going over floorboards that are 100mm do it it 100mm centres so each fixing is on the centre of a board.
As for expansion if your concerned leave 2mm gap at edge

Yeah that makes sense also going perpendicular and laying with the grain some have said.

Yeah I'd assume to do a very good job you would remove the skirting so and any expansion gap would then be hidden but some say just go from the skirting so I dunno either way neat and tidy sadly mines a bit of a mess at the moment hence why Im here.

I would upload photos by the site keeps saying there to big but ill post a link to another fourm that has let me upload them of anyone whats to have a look.

Just a small gap around the edge is fine. Too tight and you can get creaking/squeaking

150mm is a minimum on a good solid flat subfloor Not an exact specification on every wooden subfloor. 2mm short of walls and obstacles is more than adequate No need to remove skirts or leave gaps between boards

Okay no worries my issues has been resolved... Yeah some say 150mm so say you can come a little closer if needed but not futher...

Also depending on where you boards sit some say 100mm but all agree they has to be some kind of structure which mine hasn't had ply is badly damaged and all the nails are rusted.

Some say don't even use nails not even u shank as nails if done wrong will poke back up or move where a screw doesn't unscrew itself and I'd agree with a good drill driver its a better options and other ply work since has been done this way.

I have had some very good advise on it now so fell confident enough that my opinion is fair and based off facts. Thanks, the general census have advised its a bad job and needs replacing completely and done correctly.

Either way I've learnt alot about it all so thanks guys.
