Hi there I’m looking for advice. I re carpeted my stairs, top landing and 3 bedrooms in this Capet in May of this year and the pile has flattened considerable on the stairs and in the entry way to the doors. There’s only me and my son who live here and he’s only here half the time. The assessor agreed there is considerable flattening and sent a report to this effect, took photos however the manufacturer have replied rejecting the claim with the following Flattening / tracking Looking at the photos provided I would identify this as being classed as localized conditions. We would recommend that the carpet is vacuumed daily with the appropriate vacuum cleaner. This is not a manufacturing defect. Based on this information we are rejecting this claim today as not a manufacturing issue and the claim has been closed. Based on current wear I suspect I’ll get another 6-12 mo this out of it before having to replace entirely which I dont think is acceptable. I have a call with the manager of the store tomorrow and looking for advice as to how best to approach this. I believe the carpet should either be replaced or I should be compensated . Any thoughts or advice please ahead of this call? I simply cannot afford to replace it after such a short period of time
As it’s a re brand by carpet right it’s hard to know who manufactures it. I’d be having words with the shop to see if they will replace it for something similar
hi Lisa. So many of the manufacturers are happy to put ‘localised issues’ on so many complaints. Many modern carpets are manufactured with way too much adhesive applied to the backing, so many delaminate also due to this process. This makes the carpet harder under foot, thus compressing the pile prematurely as there’s very little ‘give’ in it.
