Hi all. Going to be replacing some carpet tiles. The tiles are going on to a vinyl sub floor which had carpet tiles fitted with eco bond tackifier.

The floor has since had either many more layers of tackifier or possibly spray glue and other adhesives. The sub floor is now covered in old sticky adhesive and patches of carpet tile backing.

Any advice for cleaning or possibly an underlay to cover the mess underneath. Or am I ok to just floor scrape and apply tackifier, providing the surface is smooth?

    any help is greatly appreciated.

Carpet tiles are very forgiven, unless it’s horrendous you’d be good to go with just scraping the backing off. I’ve just uplifted loads from a school and went straight onto the old tackifier

That’s what I was hoping for. Appreciate the reply. Is there any kind of finishing edge you can put down? I’m doing a section of carpet tiles and don’t want the edges to be kicked up
