Hi. I've just used Mapei Ultimate Leveller 1210 to cover a very irregular concrete floor in our house. It's the first time I've done this particular kind of job and I'm quite please with the results. It's a fairly big area at 21 m2. (We'll, I thought it was big. ) We intend on laying laminate flooring in this room and understand the importance of having a flat surface beneath the planks. There are a few minor imperfections in the screed. A few dips here and there. Most only a millimetre, others as much as 3mm. Is it acceptable to smooth out these dips with a second layer of compound. Not over the entire surface, just where the dips are? Secondly, whilst here...I used Mapei Prim Grip Plus to prime the concrete. We have a second area that requires levelling. However, there was bitumen adhered flooring tiles originally in this room. Can the Prim Grip Plus be used to prime this bitumen? I've read elsewhere that it can. However, I thought I'd check here on the forum dedicated to flooring. Many thanks D
Umm. I understand, but not sure I want to risk it. Thanks for taking the time to read my query though. Out of curiosity and for future reference, can you add as second layer of levelling compound. Additionally, can the Prim Grip Plus be used to prime bitumen? Thanks again
Im not sure thats the correct primer for that you’ve done. Usually it would be eco prim t for screed. I cant see prim grip being suitable for bitumen. You would of been better with mapie NA levelling compound and go direct to bitumen without a primer. Im sure the prim grip will be fine as a primer for your second 3mm coat.
