Subfloor/ LVT floor movement

Discussion in 'FAQ Section For Consumers' started by Sazzle, Dec 3, 2025.

  1. This really doesn’t sound like normal movement. If the subfloor was flexing before the LVT went down, it should have been fixed first. Click systems need a flat, solid base or you get exactly what you’re describing, bounce, creaks and joint noise.

Skirting is not meant to pin a floating floor. I would push back firmly. This sounds like a subfloor issue, not settling.

Thanks for the reply. Two months later and the builder is still arguing with me about whether the floor should be pinned down with skirting or not! I’ve given him 30 days to come up with a solution to sort out the subfloor, as it’s not flat or sound, & the LVT clicking is getting worse.

The original tiled floor is underneath the insulation. Underneath the tiles is a concrete base.

    So a solid floor then.

Yeah, the original floor is solid, although apparently not flat.
