Ive bought a surveymaster with no instructions, what i want to know is when i scan do i have to pull up the exsisting floor covering or can i scan through it? Also does it measuere in RH% or do i have to use a converting chart to get to RH%, when i tested my wooden fire place with the prongs it came up with 8.7 and the light were green but when i used the scan mode it read 217 and the light went to amber. Can i push the prongs into concrete or would you use the scan method?
The pins are for wood only. They will read from 6-25 % MC at a guess. MC is different to RH. When reading wood you need to use the equilibrium chart you get on a floorSkills course to be able to work out if the woods moister is correct for the area it is in . The scan mode is for concrete. Yes it will scan through a floorcovering but its a indicator only. It can not read RH or give a accurate reading. Scan mode is purely there to tell you where to set up a hygrometer.
