I have a friend who runs a kennel for working German Shepherds and he's been looking at alternatives to concrete floors as he is concerned at bacteria penetrating and periodically causing problems. All the options he's looked at are costly so he asked for some suggestions from me. I've an idea that a dpm with a screed over the top would leave him a thinner surface for the bacteria to penetrate. Obviously it's upside down in terms of the barrier the dpm presents so does anyone have any recommendations?
Would that be suitable for dogs though, Matt? I've told him I'll look into it so I'm prepared to listen to any and all ideas.
One important factor is that the floor has to offer enough natural grip for the dogs footing, slippery floors are quite stressful for them hence normal ceramics are a no-go.
you not installing a normal dpm epoxy. Its a epoxy but you add colours to it and none slip particles etc. I will dig out some pics.
Guide Dogs For The Blind use Ronafix Mix B granite polymer screed, min. 15mm deep. Resistant to water, urine, washing down, and the roughish profile helps keeps the dogs claws down. See http://www.screeds.ronacrete.co.uk/details/16824/ronafix-pre-packed-wearing-screed-15-25mm.6026/
