Not used myself, but looking over the tech data the company actually know what they are talking about ! (unlike some other bull crap others come out with) So ye sounds really good. Couldn't see any strength specs tho? i hope they are high as would like to try this product.
I'm begining to turn my nose up at these firbrous screeds after a month of horror repairs at heathrow. Terminal 3 repairs either side of expansion joints its all crumbled and failed, entries and exits to tavelators crumbling and failed, bearing in mind there is a 3 - 5mm layer on top of 22mm ply, ply joints are also failing and crumbling everywhere. This got me thinking the other night as to why when we are pouring this stuff onto ply especially where theres joins would it not be a good idea to use that mesh tape that tapers and jointers use, what say you Matt good idea or bad......
When it dries to full strength would it not lift at the tape as it would be stronger than the tape adhesive? Just thinking mind you
before fibre screeds we used to do as Jay has suggested. Im trying remember what it was we used to use. It was a mesh like what comes to underfloor heating mats but would stay bonded to the subloor if that makes sence. Im sure i will remember later tonight. I was a apprentice when we used to use maybe 15+ years ago. Then uzin brought out a fibre screed ! Anyway Jay, must be a reason why the compounds are failing? out of all the compounds the fibre stuff is the one we see no problems with. Can you get some pics of the next repairs you have to do please.
Not allowed to take pics mate I have to fill in special paper work for that, to much cctv around to risk losing my airside pass and with a working window of 10pm till 3am we just don't have the time to do repairs over there properly which really does go against my grain. But the upside is I'm getting £60 per hour per man rock on.... Besides its only a tart it up for the olympics as T3 is set for demolition next year sometime. The old T2 has already gone and the new T2 is currently under construction and once complete T1 will be demolished to make way for a new T1. And the government said they weren't allowed to expand ha ha ha well they are cause they are building upwards so all terminals will now be T1 A, B ,C that way they get what they want 3 terminals in one building under the heading T1 lol gotta love them over there they ain't stuppid. New runway foundations and all cables have already been laid and they are just waiting for that lot in that village to sign on the dotted line before they can bring it all online where theres a will theres a way.

If you decide to live next to a airport then you cant moan when the time comes it needs to get bigger. Take Tucker for example of here. However, tucker knows in 10 years the goverment will tax the planes for noise pollution so i think he thinks they will soon be electric planes and silent LOL
Forgot to mention the only reason Matt that I can think they are failing is the ammount of foot traffic that passes through along with the trolleys and bags on wheels as well as the electric karts that rumble back and forward all day long all that vibration can't be doing it any good. And not to mention the vibration from esculators and travelators. The floors really do take a pummeling over there, I've even found cementisious board on top of ply with latex on top and its the cementisious board that has crumbled causing the lino to cave in.
Judging by the weight of the suitcase my mrs takes on holiday, there is no hope for these floors. Surely the ply is weaker than the screed?
do you know what product is being used? possible under speced for the area? Then again i wouldnt be using a compound over a wooden subfloor in a commercial area like the airport. Its more a domestic product . Im surprised that a timber subfoor is even in there.
You're surprised imagine my surprise on the first night, its mostly down to the old construction of the building which was tarted up I think 5 years ago and all of the ply areas are on top of metal link coridoors and ramps its the same for those jetys that connect to the planes and there is quite a big void underneath which houses all the cabling and motors/plant which power the travelators and exculators an what not. You can't have a concrete jety fixed as all planes are different, they spent £12,000,000 on T3 jetys just to accomadate the oh so big air buses.
i would defo say the compound is being pushed past what its designed for. Them jety's for example will have room temps inside them but the underside of floor is getting outside conditions, they are moving and all types. I would guess wrong product speced. Not even sure what should be speced? maybe a resin based compound is what should be used? Dont know !
That's what I'd use a resin based compound they're made to accept more stress and strain, call up mapei see what they think.
