ive just purchased a leister hot jet s as my old triac gave up the ghost.thing is im not sure what temperature the settings are on this welder and it also has a air output control so my questions are i weld with my triac on 5 and a half on the flat and 5 up the wall could somebody tell me what the setting would be on the hot jet?also what setting do i put the air flow on?i have looked in the instructions but theres no mention of it tia

one of my listers has air speed.

Normally i use air speed on max and adjust heat to what speed im welding at like any other welder.

However if you lower airspeed for say coves you can set up so you have the correct heat but slow down airflow so you can go slower.

As for set up the best way i find is test welds on scrap. As soon as you have it correct just record the temps.

I dont like just selecting a number as all welders are slightly different.

hi matt thats what i was thinking of trying it on scrap as the temp dial only goes up to 6 on this gun but theres nothing about what heat each setting kicks out

thats the same as mine mate.

on full air speed mine likes to be one number higher on heat. So if normal your on number 3 then you need to be on number 4. BUT each one is slightly different.

Problems I`ve had in the past are you do a test peice on the flat with altro, but when doing the same heat on internals externals I`ve burnt it,don`t ever have that problem with polflor products

thats because you are going slower on the tricky bits. That is where the speed control of air is good as you have same heat but can slow it down. So not as violent if that makes sence.
