Depends on the bloke. I have a business partner. We have a van each now but in the early days we were in the same van for 3 years. It worked ok for me. He does as he's told now lol
I'll have a long hard think about it. Youths on my side here. I'll let you know if i come up with anything guys
And if you can make a go of it and pay the bills in this financhal climate were In the good times should follow when it picks up
my biggest regret was not doing it earlier.. Took me over 12 yrs on being employed before i went on me own..
Only took me 4 years before I realised I couldn't work on the cards for a firm. I just wasn't learning anymore so needed to get out there. Ended up doing CCTV for the first few months because I had no work but as I had a van and self employed I was getting £100 a day!
I'm just in the process of going self employed. I've worked for my dad for 7 years and I've had enough so few months back I sold my car and got a van and tools and I've been doing jobs ever since. I've advertised in local magazines which work and been round some shops to find work. This weekend I'm going to make a list if all the shops in a 25 mile radius and contact all of then and see what happens. My mrs is the bread winner so what ever I can earn is extra which is good because there's no pressure for me to earn x amount every month. Enough about me lol, one thing I was told by another subbie is never leave your eggs in one basket so if you can work for 2/3 different people
biggest problem i found when your a subby is this. Most want you to lash it down, and get onto the next job. They wont generally know as much as you do and tell you to 'just get it down' when you call them up and say 'this job really needs this/that or the other to be done right And if you do as they tell you knowing full well its wrong, your the one thats liable! All they interested in is the job done and paid for So as for me, i got p1$$ed off fairly quickly subbing out as 'bodging a job' is not something im interested in doing Unless i choose to! lol
your Dad is right, start as you mean to go on, working in partnership can easily lead to fallouts which could make being at work a nightmare. And besides, if you make a mistake, do you really want your partner there laughing his nads off and telling everyone in the pub?
