I cut woven carpets free hand or use a loop pile top cutter, they make a pukka join

Follow the white woven cotton on the back with a new straight or hook blade,I always copydex after I have cut the join too

that must be some blade on the hooker to be able to follow a selvidge, i would only do it with a straight blade myself
mark and slice or saw action etc

New straight blade and follow the line.

I use super hook blades from a German company I think and there brilliant but I think I'd struggle with cut a woven from the back
