did this job recently a small hallway running into a small utility room, its camaro cut down to form a herring bone pattern with border. it was quite fiddly and involved but would of been made easier with a guillotine i think as i had to cut it all down by hand. pity those guillotines are so expensive.
Well done mate. I was actually thinking of doing this myself the other day but I'll wait until I get a gullitine, was speaking to one of the Vusta and asking why no one else apart from Amtico and Karndean does wood block and he said there isn't a demand for them. I'm always getting quotes for Herringbone amended to wood plank as people don't want to pay that much so would be good if you could make your own out of a cheaper tile.
Looks good mate nice one, most customers don't understand all the different patterns designs that can be made with a guillotine and a little patience
Just one thing sir (as the great Columbo would say) Why did use that oversize tile on the edge of the field? I would have tried to keep it as a triangle. Only a question not a criticism, as I said it looks mint.
Hi mate, i decided to set it like that because i felt the border would of encroached too far into the field. The border is just under the full width of the plank and would of meant putting in a thin cut all around the border.
Looks great mate. Good to see proper set out also. One question tho- picture 3 ......... am i seeing something or is it the picture.....
Maybe Not sure if its the picture or maybe a error. To be fair if it is a error it is one that i was always doing on custom cut product. In fact i made the same error a few weeks ago in the training center !
Well spotted matt i had,nt noticed it before. With so many cuts and return cuts its an easy and honest mistake i shant be rushing back to rectify it tho its too far from home lol. I enjoyed doing this job and felt very pleased with the end result it was something out of the norm and tested the old grey matter lol
as me and the other's have said, we have all done it and i did it only last week. I walked over the floor for a while before i picked up myself LOL. I wouldnt bother going back, i dought anyone would pick up on it and its not like you have fitted incorrect causing a wear issue etc. I would guess that in the 10-20 years that floor is down that no one will ever see it. Dont forget we are all floorlayers and dare i say "on this forum we are high quality" floorlayers with a eye to pick out the smallest of errors. (maybe we are just a fussy sad bunch ??) Either way im proud of the forum and more proud of the great bunch of high quality installers that use this forum over others.
As you say we all make mistakes wasn't long ago I went to work with the mother of all hang overs and layed half a bath room ships decking without the feature strip before I noticed :0
