Corridor 30m x 2.20, chipboard down, what would you suggest for prep, safety going down and they don't want to see any deviation on floor..
if its within the budget id try and swing 9mm and 700 tbh But it'll prob be the old saying 'They want diamonds but only willing to pay for coal'
The only way I know would guarantee perfection is 6mm ply then 700. However if the chipboard is really good I don't see why 6mm ply and feather won't do it.
I've been asked to prep only as the guys who's job it is aren't sure that they are able to do it.. WHAT... I said 6mm, prime then fibre screed with whatever brand or ply then feather but being that length I was concerned that you may see a variation if just feathered...
If the floors not spot on and there's any light comin in that will show. Flood it with levelling compound
ha, you will see the variation in the surface of the **** ply let alone the subfloor. Unless you can get decent stuff that is
Sounds like you're in a vulnerable position I wouldn't be happy with. Any problems with the fitting could easily be blamed on the prep and if these guys aren't capable of prepping themselves you have to question their competence in fitting. If you do it go the full bhoona with 700 or similar
Screeding over ply seems overzealous to me. I don't claim to be perfect in feathering but I've never had any problems with 9mm and feather
if theres a lot of light, you'll see Everything! If your only responsible for the sub prep, def belt and braces the thing
I've done long corridors in 6mm and feather without worries. I changed to 9mm a few months back and wouldn't hesitate to ply and feather anywhere.
Actually the more I think about it; if you said you won't do it unless you do the whole thing, what would they do?
In all honesty you'd easily manage it if the floor was completely flat & level etc Mario, Any idea what state the chipboard is in currently?
Even if the chipboard is good you'll need to look at it for undulation too. Depends a lot on the light sources too of course
