Im after some ideas as i have ran out on this certain job ! The sub-floor - Its damp Its uneven It has a man hole cover in the middle (which cant be sealed in) Its part concrete and part wood The area- Its a U shaped kitchen 8.5 x 5.20 . The customer DOES NOT want - Ceramics Beading around edges raised floor height (above carpet so maybe get away with around 12mm raise) wood planks The customer would like - LVT (tile) Vinyl (tile) What ever i can suggest that gives a tile look. A floor-covering that can be taken back up to get to man hole cover ! Any suggestions?
I have suggested it but they are not happy having such a new product on the market. Also do they do a tile?
Ye i was thinking that myself. But if i remember correct you have to apply the velcro to the back of the LVT yourself and also it would require a expanstion ? with this being over 8 meters it would need a few mm expansion i would guess? Anyone know the name of this product?
Yep karndean looselay have a tile. The con with it thought is no feature strip and a huge tile. So you won't really get the tile look I don't think.
The looselay is a good product but still needs a fairly level surface to get a decent finish. To get a better look on the tiles I like it brick bonded to emphasise the tile shape.
So do they want the man whole hidden then ? Can u not just make a wooden replacement top that's removable & fit the floor as normal so the man whole can still be accessed but is discreet & is still part of the floor ? If you know what I mean
Are they happy to have skirtings removed? Could use jumpax or similar and create a access panel for manhole. Or take measurements of manhole position (take a pic with dimensions / position marked on floor) and cover it as though its part of a normal floor. Then offer to return and cut out section to create an access panel if ever they need to get to it (at extra cost along with any trims required).
Dare I suggest Vusta Vitesse? Still need to smooth out the floor but according to the rep the magnetic sheet acts as a dpm barrier. You would cut the sheet to the hatch, take location measurements and then fit the flooring. Should the hatch ever need lifting the flooring will lift and the sheet for access.
If you have 12mm to play with 6 mm ply the wood side dpm/latex the concrete side install a new manhole (maybe howe green) raising it slightly then lay any LVT with grout lines so you can put the grout line over joint allowing for any movement
Already suggested that idea but the kitchen units have lots of side panels they dont want to be cut. I cant bead around them either as the appliances are very tight.
