    Accredited=

It means you have done a course in LVT, carpet , laminate , what ever , and have then taken a accredited practicle test to prove you can install to a high standard. The standard of test / training is over seen by the governing bodies. So that being Cskills awards , CITB Construction skills etc - http://www.cskills.org/awards/

basically its like being a NICF Master fitter or a quickstep master installer but the accreditation certificate actually means something and is recognized by the governing boards, nicf, quickstep etc IS NOT reconnised by any governing body. The certificate is sent out direct from Cskills awards and your pass is added to your personal file like a nvq or passing a h+s test , it will come up linked to your cscs card also. So this is like a NVQ but they call it a accreditation as it stands for a proven quality.

So where does mflor come in to this? Mflor has nothing to do with the accreditation. This is not a Mflor specific course you have a 'Amtico approved course'. The accreditation is like i say nothing to do with them. However Mflor recognize that to pass as a accredited installer in LVT it means you are a very good installer so if you have this they will add you to their approved installer network.

IF you have done a floorskills course on LVT then Mflor will be happy for you to be a dealer but i understand they want promote you as a 'approved installer' . I think thats right anyway.

I was trying to get to a point where people who have done the course have samples and people that haven't, haven't... I think merit and I are having a little playtime...

So if you have an nvq in impervious does that make you accredited/ certified ?

It's just that I have a customer , who rang me a few weeks ago and got my contact details from the forum, (many thanks Matt for doing a great job ) .I have Karndean and Polyflor samples but she mentioned mflor which I said was a great product but unfortunately I have no samples. 50m2 so not massive but it would of been nice to show her the samples .

No, a NVQ means you passed the standards set out by a governing board. It does not mean you are a high quality installer but a installer that knows how to work safety and install to a basic ability. In other words you may fit some LVT straight lay and you will pass a NVQ. To pass a accreditation (depending on what level you are going for) you will need to install LVT with border work for example (to pass a level 2 accreditation) along with passing a fair few quality assessments of just how good you are.

    Basically -

NVQ means you can meet the standards
Accreditation means you are a high quality installer.

You can buy and install Mflor products, but to be added to there 'approved' installer list they require you to be accredited. End of the day they are going to recommend you as a fitter, why would they publicly recommend someone they dont know any thing about there fitting quality.

Mflor had some good sample books but the distinctive book is impossible to sell with. The samples are the size of a stamp. If you have a shop you can get a nice stand with some really good sample boards tho.

No we dont do a Mflor course. What we do is a FloorSkills lvt course. On the course we use Mflor products unless asked for a different brand.

The course you did entitles you to be a dealer for Mflor and approved if i give Mflor the O.k. (which i do) . however it has now changed from teh old way of me "saying ye im happy with his ability" to Mflor asking people to take a accredited test which i agree with. There is a governing body over seeing us and you and we have proper official guidelines and quality guidlines that now have to be passed, i have to supply teh governing bodies proof of quality etc with photos of your work you did while under test.

Basically stops me or anyone lese just signing off a mate etc. I have to prove it.

They're now doing a contractors box with samples in. I've got a stand coming just so I can take the larger boards to show customers. Hoping to convert more people from other brands to one I enjoy fitting.

From my experience domestic customers ask for manufacturer accreditations like Karndean approved & amtico approved & it you mention anything else they don't know what your talking about ?

It angers me when manufacturers along with suppliers prefer those with business premises when it's the fitters that are the ones that that install their product to the end user. I can think of many retailers that are just money making machines that just have a "get it on the floor" attitude and just don't care or have a passion for flooring as most of us fitters do. There are some companies out there , like yourself matt and others on the forum that share this passion but there are also alot that just don't care. At the end of the day without a floor covering a room just isn't complete !
