did two studios sets last week for a well known TV program, one was because the other actors walking off set kept making the floor squeak and it could be heard on camera, so we had to uplift the chipboard floor, take out the metal clips and any screws,put in timber supports with 4mm foam added, then lay 18mm t&G ply and then lay carpet tiles and cheap cushion floor to make it look like a council flat,
Then we did this one, which was flood damage, but couldn't change the set, so uplifted vinyl and chipboard, cutting up to the set, then layed 18mm t&g on 6mm foam, used schonox APF flex and then laid Tarkett elite
and then the one that when wrong, was just going to be uplift Vinyl, latex and apply UV paint and cure, when we uplifted, the Latex had not been primed to the F75 DPM and was too loose to leave, so had to hack the lot off, then has anybody tried to use 300 down a ramp at 6 to 8mm thick, just kept running down hill, the boys worked the night shift and i went in the day to UV prime and paint, did a few things wrong because of the subfloor and ended up chasing our tails all day, was really had to get it perfect. going to put it right again this weekend, as they say life's a learning curve.
When you remove chipboard do you always replace with plywood? What sort of work do you find needs be under the chipboard. I've got 2 chipboard subfloors that need ripping out and replacing.
What programmes are they? A joiner mate of mine built the stage for ' You've Been Framed' when Lisa Riley presented it. He claims he was told to built it strong enough you could park a car on it!
Always replace chipboard with ply if I can, it's not that much difference with the cost and you don't get as many problem with damp, or squeaking, why have the gone.?whats the problem Do you know if they are on joists . What you putting on them as a finish?
There is an area that has given way in the floor, not on joists it's almost as if its water damage or they have taken the ply over a hole and it is now showing. I putting lvt back down
normally when doing ramps we would use green bag and 128/114 and mix it up a little thicker, but because this was for a resin i needed something with a higher Newton strength, forgot about the flow properties, didn't help that the screed had been done with a shovel!! mind you by the time we had finished it looked like we had used one, will look at the 800 thanks
so its on screed /concrete maybe they have laid it on screed and either the floor was uneven, or maybe no DPM and the moisture has just gone into the Chipboard, i would make good the bad bits in the screed, lay plastic DPM, 6mm foam or 4 depending on screed , T&G 18mm ply sticking all the joints, see what the surface is like, and movement? , then either sand the joints, feather finish or prime & coat the lot with 700 flex/APF and then lay your LTV
