Finally we have the first lot of template tools + a few others.

They are made out of stainless steel for strength and also so they dont rust.

    So far we have -

    • 18" tile scribe plate for installing diagonal LVT tile (cuts a diagonal tile in perfect)
    • 12" tile scribe plate for installing diagonal LVT tile (cuts a diagonal tile in perfect)
    • International butterfly template. (used to cut safety flooring in European style)
    • more to come

Dont have final prices yet. They are going to be a lot more than i first guessed they would be as we decided to make from 2mm stainless and then added a laser etched measure gauge to the side. They can be used as set squares also as dead accurate. We could of had them cut on a guillotine but opted for a very precise cut done with a laser.

The stainless has tripled the cost of the making them.

We are looking at around -

    • 18" tile scribe approx £65
    • 12" tile scribe approx £57
    • Butterfly corner template approx £14

We also have a curve cutter for following curves. Still waiting on price.

We have a straight edge also with a 65 degree angle for cutting in mitres. Has a measure on side as well. Guess around £20 for this

Nightmare when the side of the bull isn't shaped properly so you can scribe off it ? I normally stick a spare plank round it to get the curve shape but a bit if a clart on so template would be great Dave !

Those 45° tile templates are a bit steep like Matt ?
I guess you'd have to make a boat load to get the cost down ?

    We went with quality.

The first ones i had made was made out of standard steel and was working out at around £20 each. On testing (we test them by giving to apprentices and use on courses to see how they handle the real world) they was getting bent easy. They was also going rusty very fast.

So i decided to go teh quality route.

They are now made out of stainless steel 2mm thick. -

    The advantage -
    • Very strong and hard to bend
    • They do not rust
    • We managed to have a measurement gauge etched in to the steel so you can use to measure also
    • They are perfect square so can be used as a large set square that lies flat !
    • We cut the centre out to make them light weight
    • The thicker steel makes a better guide for your knife to run along

The disadvantage of using thicker stainless-

    • Material cost is 3x the amount of standard steel
    • The laser takes a lot longer to cut them. Labour costs has increased
    • Making them light weight has cost more as more work for laser (trust me, these are heavy with centre still in, they are over 600mm x 600mm wide. Thats a large bit of steel)
    • Etching a tape measure guide on side has cost more also. But personally i think its useful.

As for reducing price, the price i have give approx is for a bulk load ! if i have the odd one cut it will be double. I have purchased £2k worth today to get that price!

The laser that cuts them is not cheap to hire, the laser can cut many thousands worth of steel per hour. Me putting stainless in the thing has really slowed it down so i have to pay for that.

I would have thought the smaller square came out of the larger one, then four triangle thingy's from the middle of the smaller square?

cut the butterfly templates out of it. Again it was extra laser time but spreads the cost out.

Also might help pay for the 6K worth of damage it did to the laser when it was cutting out of small sheet and flicked up and jammed the laser head destroying it

I did try and work a deal on me supplying the sheet of steel and working out how to get best cost per cut. But they don't work like that, they charge per part cut. Guess like how we charge a fitting charge on size of material supplied.
