Charlie has one, just an operatives card. Gets him on all sites, never had a problem.

you can either get an operatives card (green) or a trainee card (red) if the apprentice is going through college training etc

Just a money making thing mate. Ive had mine for 15 years renewed it every few years at 25-50 quid a pop . Used to work on big sites loads so needed it but now I don't much thank god. I think sites are a lot safer now tho whether its due to CSCS I'm not sure.

I hardly work on sites these days but you now need them to do work for Liverpool council.

Charlie has a green card for labours. Will get you on site but if H+S or site foreman was watching over its only good for genural labouring. You should not be installing using this card.

However , charlies is soon to be upgraded to a Blue card with his qualification he will soon have .

    CSCS cards-

You now need to have a NVQ to apply for a new card. If you dont have a NVQ then you can not renew. It get's worse also. If you have never had a cscs card before and you dont have a nvq you will soon have to do a NVQ level 1 in H+S aswell !

In other words, if you dont have a cscs card at moment, get one now and get yourself booked up for a NVQ. Also note that getting a NVQ is not a 5 minute thing. Takes 6 months+ to get a nvq.

The truth is no-one on site really cares !
Often, I see people who dont speak English, just give a number, or write it down on the site induction form. They are never checked/confirmed.
Within the induction is a section which you have to sign. This basically signs away all your rights to everything, and also say`s you agree to do as your told.
MOST sights are not interested at all in what card you have, or if you have an nvq.
Even though I have an nvq, cscs issued me with a green card, seems they don`t care either

Have just received all my certificates from floortrain and now need to book my H&S test. My son is still doing his (practical side) and will also do test. Whats plan after that ring cscs for cards, mine will be blue for skilled worker and sons green for apprentice? Looking for some work in Northwest as doesn't seem to be much work on the domestic side at the mo. Could do with some leads into site work as have never done it.

Depends on what certificates you have . I've got a gold card supervisor which you can get if your nvq level 3.
