Ye mine are wrong also, will look into that. My smiley was supposed to be one sticking its middle finger up at you but i got a smile instead . LOL (joke)
a pic or video would be benfecial obviously if its on a course its ok i have a image in my mind how it should be done but we are all here for hints and tips would love to do a course one on one with matt but looking into the new year now
one on one with me is only going to end up costing more and the only benefit is its a shorter course. To be fair the carpet courses are not run by me anyway ! Daniel (one of our trainers) is the best i know and because of this he does the carpet training. You are far better off doing a normal course cost wise and you will learn the same but is a lot cheaper.
I done the advance carpet course a few months ago and thought I knew a lot. My way of fitting has changed a lot since learning how to stretch a carpet. I've put grippers down the side of steps for a while but only when you get shown by a very good instructor/fitter do you realise how wrong most have been doing it. It needs to been done in a certain way for getting the best tension. Yes it takes a little longer but isn't it about doing it correct, rather than getting it on the floor? For me, my reputation is more important than being known as a cheap fitter. I think courses and the contents should be kept to the training centres, not online in video form. It's the guys that spend money on new tools and courses that keeps them apart from the average fitter. If not every1 would know the secrets and training centres wouldn't be busy.
Agreed! It's a bit more time consuming to do but makes fitting them quicker, also you don't get any dipping at the sides
i agree but i'm only talking about grippering the sides of winders here , most fitters are more than capable of doing this lol
Who is fitting from top and Who is fitting from the bottom. Always came from the top and thought my stairs were tight but since floorskills and getting shown bottom it's much tighter and gives a cleaner look. I've seen many puffy stairs, loose, people hitting over and over a stiff carpet but not needed when fitting from the bottom. The stretcher is a bit of a pain, I'll admit that but it's the finished look that's better.
Was a fit from top guy and thought I got a tight job, but after Dan showed me on the advanced course, I'm a changed man. Gets a neater finish and it is a tighter stair.
Yep, both ways have there benifits. Up will give best results on most carpets, but on some you can get equal and sometimes better results coming down.
