Dazlight thanks for your comments which I agree with totally, we had lvt fitted in the past and being naive left them to it and the finish was awful but we just didn't say anything as we didn't want to kick up a fuss

This time however why thought we would question parts we were not happy with and thanks to the help we have received from the forum has giving us a better understanding of what's involved and what a good finish should be like

We do have corners of planks lifting by skirting boards, architraves where the glue has not bonded, there are also some planks where the level is slightly raised compared to the other so it's not flush but they are coming back to resolve these issues

The ply is also speaking in parts when walked on but the planks are down now so not much we can do as they have also put screws down as well as staples, it might be coming from the original floor we have been told. Although not ideal we can like with squeaks but will it cause any long term problems with the karndean ?

Finally after install should you use the karndean protector ?

Are the planks "lifting" or "curling" on the edges & architraves ?

Also on my second pic is that caused by the level of sub floor not being flat?

With the speaking of ply in parts when walking on will this cause any long term problems with the planks, we want the flooring to last years

2nd pic in my experience looks like there's many a bit of grit or karndean sliver underneath. Personally I wouldn't be happy with the silicone from what I can see there.

As for the speaking parts of the ply if your sure it was screwed down properly then it could be just movement in floor boards. Karndean is fairly flexible so shouldn't cause any problems.

The silicone looks worse in the pics I suppose than real life, is it normal to put silicone around edges of karndean, and for some on the board please don't slate me we just want to be better informed and not bluffed

Can't see the point of clean silicone around the skirting. Maybe a bathroom but IMO it doesn't need it.
I think after a few years it looks awful.

After reading that you'd had karndean badly fitted before I now understand why you posted but maybe you should of mentioned that in the beginning. But never mind. Ok I'll take the plunge. I very rarely silicone and and if I do its generally in a bathroom but its not very noticeable. Most fitters if not all on here would agree that it shouldn't of been needed if fitted properly. To me that looks awful.

So why put silicone around the edges? And what should I say remove it all? Do some karndean installers put silicone around the edge?

Also the floor wasn't rolled after install as some say is recommended, does it really make any difference

Finally we have lots of glue on the planks what's the best way to get this off and for a residential install should you use the karndean protector on the planks?

Thanks I don't like asking questions for the sake of it or moaning but I just want the job done to a good standard because as I said we have had bad lvt fitted before

The pics because they are close up might make it look worse than it is, but it's not ideal

So what do I need to ask them to do when they come to rectify it, don't want another rushed solution especially if as done have said they are paid per sqm as a sub contractor

When do we get the karndean guarantee as well as it's from a retailer they gave us details for
