I'm going to buy an sds tomorrow but wouldn't mind seeing what other people have and how good they are. I don't want cheap but neither do I need the most expensive. 110v is not essential. Cheers
I don't have one but I do buy makita tools and if I was to buy one it would be from they. Quality is second to none.
I've have a few Bosch sds drills ( first one 10 years ago ), and can't rate them high enough !!! , and they are nice and cheap A pal of mine started using his as a screed mixer about 4 years ago , and its still going strong. Just buy one !!
I use a 110v Bosch sds, GBH4dfe. Used as a mixer for years, also a breaker, and lastly a drill. Used and abused for over 10 years, and still going strong. Last year I bought the 18v Makita sds which is great as well. Very light, and powerful. I have the radio, and cordless, so already got batteries too. The batteries don`t last long though.
One of the fitters who works with me has a bosch and its been going strong for years. Ive recently bought a few bits of Makita stuff so perhaps ill keep that going. This will be used for any jobs with nosings and im on a job now with 20 stairs cases left to drill so the job will pay for the tool. What should I be looking for in cost? 200-300 for a decent one? or does it need to have certain speed rating?
This is what I use http://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/...8V SDS Plus LXT Rotary Hammer Drill Bare Unit Or with batteries http://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/...SDS PLUS LXT Rotary Hammer Drill 2 x 3.0 Batt Well good enough for fixing nosings.
£100-£130 jobby from screwfix, either makita or blue bosch, had both (my bosch got stolen on site) and they are great for nosings etc, lightweight but powerful, both mine were 110v sds models.
Have a look at the clearance section of these guys http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/clearance-ex-display-corded-tools-c2655 I buy tools from them every now and again and can't fault them
I've got the dewalt sds DEWD25323K - D25323k L Shape SDS Hammer 3 Mode Low Vibration 230v £191 ffxtools.co.uk It's good priced, lightish in weight which most dewalt tools are heavy, I would buy wired instead of batteries because I have found out that batteries lose power too quickly and also if u run out of blower then your stuck... But good thing with battery is if u have no power in the building then wired is no good obviously
I bought the makita 110v, 150 quid, transformer 60 quid. Only done one block but seems good. The drill is not too heavy, easily going through the concrete and I don't think it's a lot of money so very pleased.
