    Hi,

Looking for a bit of help on my recently laid concrete slab, I'm looking to install a timber floor over the top but I'm not sure if its dry enough for the floor covering, I've seen the f-ball hygrobox but can't seem to find any online, can you point me in the right direction?

    Thanks in advance.

When did you exactly have the slab laid ?

    How thick was the slab ? 4" / 6" ???

General rule of thumb is a slab dries out at approx 1mm per day, so a 4 " thick slab takes roughly 100 days min to dry, dependant on site conditions.

The first 20mm will dry out at 1mm a day but after the rate slows down as the moisture still has to travel through the concrete to dry.

personally im not a fan of the foam hygrometers. On testing we find them more 'jumpy' with temperature change. They also dont wear to clever as they tend to shread foam when changing the tape and they also seem to distort. Had a few now that dont seal correct at the base as they are banana shaped and also getting air leaks around hygrometer meter.

Like most things, you get what you pay for.

If you want a higher quality product to the foam ones then the Tramex ones are really good. They have a hard shell and last for years. Again in tests we find them better insulated so more accurate if the temperature in the area is going up and down.

Mario has them on the shop here - http://www.tradediscountshop.co.uk/shop/tramex-hygrohood-hygrometer-flooring/
