I would make it quite stiff and build it up and sand
Skirtings fitted before fitting, HT wet set through out for the adhesive
Ardex a45/a46 and then feather. Feather would work in multiple coats though so entirely upto you
And have it done inside a day
I’m sure a chippy would do it on a day rate plus materials.
Get the exacto with the stirrup blade, cost you about 20 quid

There shouldn’t be any imperfect cuts, it’s a luxury floor. Yes every cut needs bevelled with amtico except the ones upto skirting, kitchen panels etc
Doesn’t make it easier just find it the better finish, a nice clean cut upto the skirting rather than skirting on top risking a little bit...
We always insist on them on, hate fitting without them, find it a much better job fitting up to them although it is slower
I’m the im the opposite, charge more for no border, much quicker and less skill putting a border in
Get a professional to measure it
I prefer field first but use a straight edge and knife to cut border in. Seen lads use that saws but never tried myself. Also think it’s better...
