My vans dead and don't really have any spare cash at the minute, do was thinking of leasing a van? Does anyone else do it? Is it worth while?

Its a good idea if you can afford the payments each month just treat it like your renting the van unless you plan on buying it from them, id probably just swap it for another after 3 years if I done it, just watch the mileage depending on which option of lease you go for as some of them have restrictions of about 10k a year.

I have done in past, and I'm currently looking into it at the mo too. It's worth it for hassle free driving. Road tax paid. And nice new van. Most ask for 3-5 monthly payments as a deposit. Also great if your vat reg too. Claim it back each month so eases the cogs a bit. I had a citroen on contract hire years ago and never regretted it once. But be aware when looking online the price you see is for 8-10 k miles per annum. Which probably isn't enuf so price will increase with more mile option. Pros are you can give it back at end of contract and get a brand new one, no MOT. Also if your looking at keeping credit debt low it's a great way of having a new van and not actually having the debt on your file.

Watch out for repair bill added at the end of contract. My mate is in charge of a fleet of vans which they lease. He reckons they always get a bill for repairs to the paintwork

Yeah that is a bill to consider . Three years of driving a van around its bound to get a knock here and there . They will charge you for bumps etc..

Me personally, I cant see the point in paying monthly for it but to never own it. They've worked the depreciation of that new van into your monthly payents for the 3 years you have it anyway. I know you swap them in and get a new one every 3 years but the limited mileage and never owning seem negative to me. If you get a van say 1 year old , its already lost the biggest depreciation, it will still have warranty and won't need an mot until 3 years old and you are paying it back to keep it and have something to sell on at the end. Maybe I'm just looking at it negatively and im wrong but that's just my opinion on it.

You may not be able to afford a new van , so it's a good way to get one. True it will never be yours but if it's your only business expense then it's nice to drive around the country hassle free in a new van. Like I say it's not for everyone but there is a market out there, plenty of people do it. A lot include maintenance , and stuff now so it's even better. Pros and cons to everything

I'm after a new van & have also looked in to leasing. If I can afford to lease I can afford to buy new no problem !
My dilemma is do I go for the transit custom or rock the boat & get the sport ? I don't have or need a car so I guess you only live once ?

If the sport came in a Lwb then I would have had that but I have the Custom limited Lwb and by far the best van ive had. I actually enjoy driving to work now.

I got told at ford if your going to keep it for life then buy it. So I did. Will pass my van onto Kieran in about 7 years.
